Communication

Dallas Theological Seminary values contextualized, effective communication of biblical and theological truth by a variety of means for personal and corporate transformation.

The seminary’s commitment to the Scriptures leads to a framework of doctrine in which the great fundamentals of the Christian faith are affirmed and expounded. Every Alumni’s ability to study the Scriptures and present biblical truth remains a core distinctive of our graduates. Effective leadership must include a passionate obsession with good communication. Sydney J. Harris, in Publishers-Hall Syndicate, said, “The words information and communication are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite different things. Information is giving out; communication is getting through.”

Project: YouTube Short

Purpose

Create a 60-second YouTube short featuring a synthesizer as an analogy for the divine-human work of sanctification. This project includes creating the channel, researching presentation techniques, scriptural study, filmography, and seeking review. The objectives of this short are:

  • Help shed light on the complex relationship between divine and personal action in sanctification by presenting the topic in a unique way.
  • Provide an analogy to help lay believers understand sanctification.
  • Extend theological thinking into a field that is often influenced by post-Christian and non-Christian reflection.

Strategies

Creating this short involves engaging with the process of filmography:

  • Creating a YouTube channel.
  • Researching effective short form techniques.
  • Scripting, including a short synthesis of sanctification and key passages.
  • Filming with a smartphone.
  • Editing.
  • Review from my pastor, a co-worker, and a content creator.
